If you are new to the diet world, you may not have heard about intermittent fasting. However, it has become popular over the last couple of years. Intermittent fasting is a weightless approach that grew in popularity around 2012. The premise of intermittent fasting is to eat in a certain window of time every day. That time can vary from 16 hours to as little as four hours.

Is intermittent fasting effective?

When you think about intermittent fasting, the theory behind it makes sense. The food we eat is broken down by enzymes in our stomach and eventually ends up in our bloodstream. Carbs are broken down into sugar that is used for energy. If we don’t use it all, the sugar is stored in our fat cells. The idea behind intermittent fasting is to allow insulin levels to go down so that our body burns fat.

There have been many studies done on intermittent fasting versus eating less every day. It shows that they both work about the same for weight loss, but people who follow an intermittent fasting diet have dramatically lower insulin levels and improved insulin sensitivity. They also have lower blood pressure and do not report feeling hungry.

The benefits of Intermittent fasting can be increased if you also follow a healthy diet, eat lots of fruits and vegetables, snack on quality snacks, such as Jawbox Jerky, and drink plenty of water. Sticking to a healthy diet plan within the confines of your fasting schedule can lead to weight loss, improved metabolism, less inflammation, and a lowered risk for cancer.

If you are interested in a diet that can help with weight loss and help your body function better, then intermittent fasting may be the diet for you. This diet promotes eating in a certain window of time while fasting for the rest of the time, and it has been shown to have incredible health benefits.
