With the new year comes new resolutions, and people often make resolutions surrounding their health and fitness. Whether you decide to make solo fitness goals or make goals with your friends and family, here are four tips for creating a New Year’s resolution you can stick to.

How to make a good fitness new year resolution

Set realistic goals. The first step to creating a good fitness resolution is to set realistic goals. For example, if you want to lose a lot of weight, you need to assess how much weight you can lose over a year rather than set a completely unattainable goal. Likewise, remember that if you surpass your goal, you can make a new one during the year.

Break down the process to meet them. Once you have your goals, it’s time to make a process to meet them. If the goal is to eat healthier, you can make small steps to change your diet, such as adding more fruits and vegetables or drinking more water. If your goal is fitness, you can commit to going to the gym two times a week.

Check-in with yourself. It’s also important to check in with yourself as you go through this journey. You may find that even despite a well-balanced diet, you love snacking. If so, then it may be necessary to insert healthy snacks, like Jawbox Jerky, into your diet. Jawbox Jerky’s beef and chicken jerky are quality high-protein snacks that can keep you fuller for longer without breaking your diet resolutions.

Enjoy small wins. Finally, it’s important to enjoy the small victories as you reach for your ultimate goal. If your ultimate goal is to lose 50 pounds over a year, you could reward yourself after each 5-pound weight loss. If your goal is to become stronger, you can reward yourself as you become closer to that goal.

Many people set goals for the new year, but few stick to them. Sometimes they make impossible goals, and sometimes they don’t have a good plan to reach the one they’ve set. The best way to set goals is to make sure they’re attainable, break down the process to reach them, check in with your progress, and enjoy the small wins.
