No matter how careful you are, if you spend time at the gym, you have a chance of being injured. Injuries are common and can be temporarily devastating, but it’s important to recover properly before getting back to your usual routine.

 

How to recover from a lifting injury

 

  1. Acknowledge the injury. First, even though it may not be something you want to admit, accepting you have an injury is the first step to recovery. If you refuse to acknowledge that you’re injured, you stand the chance of making what could be a small injury much worse.
  2. Commit to rehab. One of the least fun things about being injured is doing rehab, but rehab can be highly beneficial to your injury. Rehab can be the difference between a full recovery and having a knee that never properly supports weight once healed.
  3. Eat appropriately. Next, many people take a break from the gym as a time to eat frivolously or cut back on calories. Both ideas are bad because giving your body the nutrients it needs to heal properly is important.
