No matter how careful you are, if you spend time at the gym, you have a chance of being injured. Injuries are common and can be temporarily devastating, but it’s important to recover properly before getting back to your usual routine.

How to recover from a lifting injury

  1. Acknowledge the injury. First, even though it may not be something you want to admit, accepting you have an injury is the first step to recovery. If you refuse to acknowledge that you’re injured, you stand the chance of making what could be a small injury much worse.
  2. Commit to rehab. One of the least fun things about being injured is doing rehab, but rehab can be highly beneficial to your injury. Rehab can be the difference between a full recovery and having a knee that never properly supports weight once healed.
  3. Eat appropriately. Next, many people take a break from the gym as a time to eat frivolously or cut back on calories. Both ideas are bad because giving your body the nutrients it needs to heal properly is important. Maintain a healthy and balanced diet, and if you are looking for quality snacks, Jawbox Jerky is ideal for you. Jawbox Jerky is made from lean muscle cuts and has no artificial preservatives, making it a perfect snack for any diet.
  4. Train other muscle groups. Finally, just because you have an injury somewhere does not mean you cannot still go to the gym. Instead of training the injured muscle, consider training other muscle groups instead. If you’re resting a leg injury, you can still work out your arms and shoulders.

An injury can be devastating, but if you do not take care of your body properly, you can be healing for twice as long. When healing from a workout injury, take the time you need to make a full recovery while doing rehab and eating healthy. If you cannot stay from the gym, you can always work out other muscle groups as the body heals.
