As the new year approaches, you will become inundated with new diet plans and tips to help you avoid gaining weight during the holidays or to jump on a fad diet come January. It can be difficult to suss out which of these tips are quality and which will set you up to fail.

Let’s talk about how to find good diet and exercise tips.

How to find good diet and exercise tips

There is a lot of diet and exercise advice out there, but not all of it is good. Some advice is obvious, such as staying hydrated, finding a workout buddy, and planning out your meals, but other advice can confuse you, or worse, set you on a path to overwork your body.

Generally speaking, any advice that has an all-or-nothing approach can be regarded as dangerous. For example, if an exercise plan suggests high-impact workouts every day of the week, you should question it. Because your muscles grow when they are repairing themselves, at what point does this plan give your body the chance to heal?

This also goes for diet plans that don’t allow for cheap days or seem too strict on calories or types of foods. Diets that heavily restrict calories do not allow for the natural variation of hunger you may have, and diets that demonize certain foods ensure you will eventually have cravings for what you can’t have.

Quality diet and exercise tips should be easy to sustain and logical, so don’t be afraid to question something that seems too strict, whether it’s working out too often or too hard or eating a very limited diet.

If you are new to the world of diet and exercise, you can get quickly overwhelmed with the amount of information about how to live as healthy as possible. Don’t hesitate to question things that sound off. Even if you are considering a new diet plan or fitness routine, it’s important to make sure that you have healthy snacks on hand all the time. Snacks such as Jawbox Jerky can ensure that you have the vitamins and nutrients you need to complete your workouts and stay full in between meals.
