  1. Cardio is the only way to lose weight. One of the most common myths in the exercise and diet world is that cardio is the best way to lose weight. Cardio is good for many things, including heart health and stamina, but it is not the only way to lose pounds. Building muscle can help you burn more calories outside the gym and can aid in lasting weight loss.
  2. Eating healthy means you can never have ice cream (or cookies or cake).Many people think that eating healthy means you have to sacrifice all the things you love to eat that aren’t as healthy, such as potato chips, ice cream, and cookies. This isn’t true. The best way to maintain a balanced diet is to allow yourself to eat anything you want, even unhealthy stuff if it’s what you’re craving.
  3. You must be sore every time you leave the gym. You’ve heard the phrases “no pain, no gain” and “beauty is pain,” but these aren’t true either. You do want your muscles to feel it when you are lifting, but you don’t have to be sore for two or three days after the gym every time you go. Just because you’re not in pain doesn’t mean your muscles aren’t working and repairing themselves.
  4. All fat is bad (or all carbs are bad).Finally, it’s common for fad diets to demonize certain categories of food, such as fat or carbohydrates, but neither one of these are all bad or all good. There are healthy fats and unhealthy fats, just like there are healthy carbohydrates and unhealthy carbohydrates.
