Sugar is an ingredient everyone knows they should avoid, and often it is obvious which foods contain sugar and which don’t. For example, we all know that an ice cream sundae is loaded with sugar, but some sneaky foods seem healthy on the surface while containing lots of added sugar.

Here are three surprisingly sugary foods that you should avoid.

Surprisingly Sugary Foods you should avoid

  1. Fruit Juice. First, fruit juice is loaded with sugar. Fruit is naturally sweet, but when you eat whole fruit, you also eat the fiber and minerals that go with it. When you drink fruit juice, on the other hand, you are only getting the sugar from the fruit without any of the other benefits.
  2. Low-fat yogurt.Low-fat yogurt is often promoted as a healthy breakfast choice for people wanting to lose weight, but not all yogurts are weight loss friendly. Many of the sugars in yogurt come from naturally occurring sources, such as milk and fruit, but many yogurt brands also add additional sugar to improve the taste.
  3. Multi-grain crackers. Finally, most people assume that anything multi-grain is healthy for you, but labels can be deceptive. Unless whole grain is the first ingredient, multi-grain crackers are more likely made of refined grains and added sugar. Some crackers can even have as much as 4g of sugar in a serving!

It can be difficult to navigate healthy food, especially when so many things are chock-full of added sugar, but if you are looking for a great tasting, nutritious snack to help you stay full in between meals, Jawbox Jerky may be right for you. Jawbox Jerky is made from whole muscle cuts of USA grass-fed and finished beef. It is gluten-free and contains only natural ingredients, which means there are no preservatives. With 16g of protein and only three carbs, Jawbox Jerky is the perfect snack for any time of the day.
